Bio

I have a lifelong interest in marine science that led me to complete my masters degree in environmental conservation with a focus on marine spatial ecology. I have grown my understanding of marine ecology by working with logistic regression models and GIS mapping and motivated by the results achieved by these methods.

My Research

My focus is on studying marine spatial ecology from coral reefs to marine mammals. I studied spatial ecology of permit (Trachinotus falcatus) and great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) where I tracked their locations and spatiotemporal movement patterns in Culebra, Puerto Rico. During this study, I also evaluated the detection efficiency of the acoustic telemetry array. Previously, I interned for NOAA during a bottlenose dolphin (Truncatus tursiops) research project in North and South Carolina locating their positions and evaluating their behavior. Later, I increased my knowledge in mapping using GIS in R, QGIS, and ARCGIS while participating in workshops.
